The New 31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 7 - Ombre or Skittle

So we are one week into The New 31 Day Nail Challenge and today is Ombre or Skittle day.
Ombre wasn't appealing to me today so Skittle it was.

I have used this colour combination before in the Makeup Savvy challenge and I like it so much I decided to use it again but with a Cloud Mani as that's something I hadn't done before!

The polishes used are -
Thumb - Barry M Blue Moon, Pure Turquoise and Blue Glitter.
Index - Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream, Shocking Pink and Models Own Magenta Divine.
Middle - Barry M Mint Green, Spring Green and Green Glitter.
Ring - Barry M Berry Ice Cream, Boots LE Purple, and Magenta Glitter.
Pinky - Barry M Lemon Ice Cream, Yellow and Gold Glitter.

Tomorrows theme is Duochrome, Flakie or Holo!
Can't wait!

The New 31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 6 - Favourite Colour Family

Day 6 of the challenge is 'Your Favourite Colour Family'.
I wasn't sure what to do for this one colour wise. As you know Pink is my favourite colour, we have already had a Pink Day, and later on in the challenge one of the challenges is 'Inspired By Your Favourite Colour'. I briefly toyed with the idea of using a different colour today so as not to over load you with Pink, but then I wouldn't be using my favourite colour family.
So Pink it is!

The appalling light we have had lately has led to these photos coming out a little Red toned but I assure you, in person it's definitely Pink!
The polishes used were, two coats of Barry M Matt White as a base, then a coat of Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream. I then free handed the stripes using Barry M Raspberry, Barry M Shocking Pink, Barry M Gelly Grapefruit, and Models Own Magenta Divine Glitter.

Up next is Ombre or Skittle.

Don't forget to take a look at all the other very talented challengers!

Lazy 15 Nail Challenge - Day 11 Fireworks/Bonfire Night Nails

Just a quick one today as I have a poorly little boy off school today!

Todays challenge was Fireworks/Bonfire Night Nails and I went for fireworks.

For this I used two coats of Barry M Black as a base, then used Barry M Matt White to do the basic firework shapes. Then I added some glitters for sparkle, shame them weathers too dull to capture it!
The glitters I used were Models Own Purple Haze, Emerald City and Barry M Yellow Topaz, Magenta Glitter, Green Glitter, Red Glitter and Aqua Glitter.

Next up is Fairy Tale!

Lazy 15 Nail Challenge - Day 5 Galaxy Nails

Today is Day 5 of the Lazy 15 Nail Challenge and the challenge is Galaxy Nails!
I warn you now this is slightly picture heavy.
I love love love galaxy nails! They are fun, they are easy and they look amazing.
What's not to love?

I decided to do these galaxy nails a little different to the last ones I did (HERE).
Last time I tried to actually mimic galaxy shapes from images I had found on Google.
This time I wanted to do something a little bit less structured if that makes any sense?
This is where Google Images came in handy once again, I found three images that I liked (which I will include at the end of the post) and went about searching my nail polish collection.

I started pulling out some colours that I thought might work well then I remembered this post over on Truly Madly Beauty where the lovely Aysh layered Models Own Hayley's Comet over a black nail polish and it gave me an idea!

More after the jump...

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 4 - Galaxy

It's day 4 of the Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge and I am really enjoying it!
Todays challenge was Galaxy Nails, another nail trend I was yet to try. Every time I saw another amazing galaxy nail on Pinterest, YouTube or Blogs I just thought I would end up in a blobby mess of glitter and colour. But I cannot tell you enough how easy these are to do!

I started off with one coat of Barry M Black Multi Glitter, then I tore small chunks off a kitchen sponge and used a White polish to sponge on the general shape I wanted for each 'Galaxy'.
Then on my Index and Ring fingers I sponged on Missguided Misslead and Nails Inc New Burlington Place. On the Thumb and Pinky I used Barry M Berry Ice Cream and Accessorize Purple Dream, then lastly for the Middle finger I used Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream, Navy and Models Own Aqua Violet from the Beetle Juice collection.
Once all that was dry I used my smallest dotting tool and White polish to do some clusters of small starts then a slightly larger dotting tool to do a few larger stars, then with a fine nail art brush I picked one larger star on each nail to be my shining star and added some starburst lines. Then finally I used a tiny bit of China Glaze Fairy Dust and sponged it on to fill in some of the gaps.

A lot of different colours I know but only a tiny bit of each was used and it was so quick to do!

I am so pleased with how these turned out and an added bonus, even Mr GT stopped, put down the Xbox controller and said 'They are awesome' then went back to his game.
Now that's a compliment!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Disco Heaven

Last but not least, from the Models Own HedKandi Collection, I bring you Disco Heaven,
'a glittery, gold disco bomb'.
This was the polish I was least excited about, but I don't like to leave a collection incomplete so I picked it up anyway.

And I'm so glad I did!
Disco Heaven consists of fine gold square glitter with slightly larger hexagonal glitter which is iridescent. It flashes blue, green and even lavender, making for a super sparkly glitter polish!
Like Ibiza Mix, this applies evenly making one coat a nice sparkly topcoat to add something special, or it can be built up to a fuller coverage.

Look at the pretty colours!

What my photos don't show, thanks to the dull rainy days, is how sparkly this polish is!
A glittery, gold disco bomb indeed!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Ibiza Mix

Ibiza Mix from the Models Own HedKandi Collection was the one I was most excited about!
Described as a 'dense multi-coloured day-night sparkle' it sounded like my perfect polish.
And it is.

This is a glitter lovers dream. Two different sizes of pale pink, blue, green, gold and copper glitter in a clear base. Perfection.
Application was good, one coat provided a nice even covering of glitter perfect for adding a bit of a sparkly topcoat to another colour, or it can be built up to a more solid glitter look as you can see in the pictures below.

A nice glittery close up just for good measure!

I will never get bored of this polish!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Balearic Cool

Next up from the Models Own HedKandi Collection I bring you Balearic Cool!
'A crystal aquamarine blue inspired by the waters of Formentera.'

This one made my heart sad.
It is indeed a beautiful, bright aquamarine blue, but it's so sheer!
I applied three coats and it still wasn't opaque.
I refused to go a forth.
I'm going to try again with some 'underwear' because the application was good, colour beautiful and finish glossy, I want to find a way to love this!

The colour really is gorgeous though!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Hedonist

Earlier I showed you Beach Party from the Models Own HedKandi Collection.
Now, for your viewing pleasure, I give you Hedonist,
'A no inhibition hot neon coral'.

This little beaut is a red toned coral, which is retina burning bright!
It applies a bit thick and gloopy so I had to apply a second coat to hide mistakes, but to be honest I nearly always apply two coats anyway.
Like Beach Party it dries to a satin finish so you may want to apply a topcoat.

But look...

Stunning no?

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Beach Party

As soon as I saw the Models Own HedKandi polishes in Boots I had to have them.
Glitter? Neon brights?? Get in my basket, you're coming home with me.

First up I'd like to show you Beach Party.
'A sunny, bright, intoxicating polish inspired by the world famous sunsets on the White Isle'

It is indeed a very bright and sunny orange with yellow undertones.
I found application a bit tricky. It was patchy and I experienced dragging around the cuticle on the second coat meaning I had to apply a third coat. How I loathe to apply a third coat!
It dries to a satin finish so if you are offended by anything less than a glossy finish a top coat would be a must for you.

I was however, completely in awe of the colour on.

Due to the wonderfully dull and rainy weather yesterday my camera was simply unable to capture just how bright this polish is, so you'll have to take my word for it until I can get some sunshine pics!
Think highlighter pen bright.
I love it!

NOTD - 17 Sweet Kisses & Models Own Pink Fizz

Just over a month ago I had just 3 lonely Models Own nail polishes in my collection.
I now have 22.
My parents bought me 2 of the box sets from the Models Own website and Boots have had a 3 for 2 offer on.
I never intended for it to happen.

Anyway, glossing over that.
My newest Models Own acquisition is the lovely Pink Fizz.
I have been keeping and eye out for Pink Fizz for a while after seeing a few online swatches, but it never seemed to be in stock at my local Boots.
The other day however, there it was, and there was the 3 for 2, and it followed me to the till I swear.

It sat on my dressing table next to my nail wheels for about a day before my cat sent my nail wheels flying. While gathering them back up I noticed how lovely the Pink Fizz and Boots 17 Sweet Kisses looked together. Out came the nail polish remover and cotton pads, and the combination was swiftly applied.

This was one coat of Sweet Kisses and two coats of Pink Fizz on the ring finger, then two coats of Sweet Kisses on the rest, finished of with a layer of Seche Vite over all.

It's nothing exciting but I love how pretty and delicate they look together.
This was the first time I used Sweet Kisses too.
I love pale/baby pinks in the bottle but hate how they look on my nails.
Pink Fizz and Sweet Kisses are more of a pale dusky pink and suits my skin tone much better.
I can't tell you how happy I am to have found a pale pink that works for me!
