Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 13 - Film Inspired

I have been excited and terrified in equal parts by today's challenge.
I had lots of ideas for lots of different films, but I knew what I wanted to do ever since I saw this YouTube video.
Tangled has to be my absolute favourite Disney film, it's the first film I took my daughter to see at the cinema and I loved it just as much as she did I think! So once I saw the Robin Moses Tangled nails there was no going back.

This took hours.
I didn't actually follow Robins tutorial because she uses acrylic paints for hers, as I don't have any acrylic paints I had to use purely nail polish so I just used her finished image and the Tangled poster as my guide.

Obviously mine is not a patch on Robins!
She is a genius and you just can't get the detail and texture with nail polish that you can with acrylic paints but I am so happy with it and so is my daughter, she will not leave my hands alone!

The colours used are -
Base - Nails Inc Montrose Place.
Hair - Barry M Lemon Ice Cream, Matt White and Famous by Sue Moxley Nude.
Skin - Barry M Nude mixed with a tiny bit of Peach Melba then the highlights and shadows were done with Barry M Matt White and Famous by Sue Moxley Nude.
Rapunzles eyes - Barry M Mint Green, Black and Matt White.
Flynns hair and eyes - Barry M Mushroom, Black and Matt White.
Flowers - Barry M Peach Melba, Tangerine, Berry Ice cream and Bright Purple.
And I think that was everything!

If you are not following Robins work yet you should be!
You can find her on YouTube, Pinterest and her Blog.
*Warning! Do not press any of those links unless you have time to spare! You will not be able to pull yourself away!*

Don't say I didn't warn you!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 11 - Metallic

Today's challenge has been the hardest for me.
Due to a lack of inspiration and time these will not be the most amazing metallic nails you will ever see but they are sparkly!

I think the best thing to do when your are suffering a lack of inspiration is to keep things simple.
So I chose a combination of GOSH Gold and Milani Jewel FX Gold glitter.
I love the Milani Jewel FX glitters so much, they kind of give a hammered metal effect in person but I'm not sure that came across too well in the photographs.
I really like this combo and can see myself wearing it more often especially for nights out.
It's just so sparkly!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 10 - Gradient

Today's challenge is the one I have been looking forward to the most.
I really enjoy doing gradient nails!

I knew I wanted to do a rainbow gradient but I didn't know if I wanted to use pastels or brights.
Once pastel had been settled on I decided to try doing the gradient across the nails instead of down the nails and I'm really pleased with the outcome.

The colours used are, Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream, Peach Melba, Lemon Ice Cream, Blueberry Ice Cream, Berry Ice Cream and Essie Mint Candy Apple. Then I used China Glaze Fairy Dust glitter over the top to give it a bit of sparkle.

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 9 - Red

Red is not a colour I use on my nails very often. I really don't know why, I like reds I just never seem to reach for them.
I wasn't sure what to do for todays challenge, so I just went with the first thing that comes to mind when I think of red, and that is roses.

I used Barry M Bright Red and Red Black for the roses, Barry M Black for the vines and highlighted with GOSH Gold.

I love these so much, I'm gutted that I now have to go build my daughters new bed and they will probably be wrecked by the end of it!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 8 - Leopard Print

Day 8 of the 15 Day Nail Challenge is Leopard Print.
Who doesn't love leopard print nails? It's quick and easy to do and always looks good, plus there are endless colour combinations to try! After yesterdays neon nails I decided I'd use some pastel shades that I have been neglecting recently.

The colours I used are Barry M Berry Ice Cream, Mint Green, Strawberry Ice Cream, Blueberry Ice Cream and Peach Melba. Then I used GOSH Gold and Barry M Black for the leopard spots.

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 7 - Neon

Today the theme for the Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge is Neon.
I like neon. A lot. Almost as much as I like glitter!
I had loads of different ideas I wanted to try for today and I just couldn't choose so I decided I'd do 'ALL THE THINGS!!' And this is what happened.

I just love how these turned out!
As I had decided to go mad with the design I kept it to just three of my neon colours, trust me I did get all seven of them out but decided I was crossing a line, so put four back.
The colours chosen are all China Glaze from the Summer Neon Collection.
The pink is Love's A Beach, green is I'm With The Lifeguard and the yellow is Sun-Kissed.
Then I just used Barry M Black and a nameless White for the details.
I hope you like!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 6 - Glitter

I mentioned in yesterdays post that today is my little boys 4th birthday!
Time flies when you are having fun!
Every year on the kids birthdays we spend the night before blowing up balloons and putting them in their rooms so they wake in the morning to a floor covered in balloons, so today's nails were inspired by that!

Bright glittery balloons!

The colours used are Barry M Bright Red and Red Glitter on the thumb.
Barry M Teal and Aqua Glitter on the index.
GOSH Gold and Barry M Gold Glitter on the middle.
Barry M Shocking Pink and Magenta Glitter on the ring.
Barry Spring Green and Green Glitter on the pinky.
Then Barry M Silver Foil for the balloon strings.

These looked better in my head than they do on the nail but I'm still happy with them and more importantly, the birthday boy says they are 'super nails!'.

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 5 - Nude

Day 5 of the 15 Day Nail Challenge is Nude.
I needed to make this one quick and simple today as it's my little boys forth birthday tomorrow so we are busy getting things ready for him.
Obviously, as I needed to make it quick and simple I decided to use tape again!?
Ever logical.
It was much more successful this time though.

For this I used Barry M Nude, which in my opinion is the perfect nude, then taped off the tips and added Accessorize Molten Copper with a sponge.

Also I'd just liked to say how thrilled I was to reach 100 followers today! Thank you so much to you all, it made my day each and every time I saw one of you pop up as a new follower.
I have been planning a giveaway for a while now, just waiting on one more thing to be delivered and I will have it up for you all very soon!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 4 - Galaxy

It's day 4 of the Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge and I am really enjoying it!
Todays challenge was Galaxy Nails, another nail trend I was yet to try. Every time I saw another amazing galaxy nail on Pinterest, YouTube or Blogs I just thought I would end up in a blobby mess of glitter and colour. But I cannot tell you enough how easy these are to do!

I started off with one coat of Barry M Black Multi Glitter, then I tore small chunks off a kitchen sponge and used a White polish to sponge on the general shape I wanted for each 'Galaxy'.
Then on my Index and Ring fingers I sponged on Missguided Misslead and Nails Inc New Burlington Place. On the Thumb and Pinky I used Barry M Berry Ice Cream and Accessorize Purple Dream, then lastly for the Middle finger I used Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream, Navy and Models Own Aqua Violet from the Beetle Juice collection.
Once all that was dry I used my smallest dotting tool and White polish to do some clusters of small starts then a slightly larger dotting tool to do a few larger stars, then with a fine nail art brush I picked one larger star on each nail to be my shining star and added some starburst lines. Then finally I used a tiny bit of China Glaze Fairy Dust and sponged it on to fill in some of the gaps.

A lot of different colours I know but only a tiny bit of each was used and it was so quick to do!

I am so pleased with how these turned out and an added bonus, even Mr GT stopped, put down the Xbox controller and said 'They are awesome' then went back to his game.
Now that's a compliment!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 3 - Chic

Day 3 of the Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge is Chic nails.
My first thought was to do a Shabby Chic design but I changed my mind as I wanted to try something I have never done before.
So I decided on Chic Grey Chevrons!

I used the tape method for this design and let me tell you if I never see a roll of tape again it will be too soon! I got in a right mess.
Most frustrating manicure ever. It honestly took FOUR attempts just to get my Ring and Pinky fingers right and they are still wonky.
But I don't care they can stay that way.

For this I used two coats of Nails Inc Charlotte Street for the base which I got in a pack from TK Maxx a while ago. Then I used GOSH Silver and Avon Matte in Grey Cement for the chevrons.

I want to try more tape manicures because despite the wonkiness I really like how this turned out, but there has got to be something easier to use than sellotape!

Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 2 - Pattern

Day 2 of the Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge is Pattern.
When I think of pattern I always think of tribal prints. We studied them in Art when I was in senior school, I honestly don't remember much about it other than I loved the homework we got assigned which was to draw our house using the different patterns to represent texture. It's was so therapeutic.
I've been avoiding trying Tribal Nails for ages as I was quite frankly intimidated by the thought of that much detail on such a tiny surface and making it look good!
So for my first attempt I tried to keep it simple.

I used two coats of Barry M Shocking Pink as my base colour then added the pattern using Barry M Black, Gold Foil and a nameless White that came from a french manicure set I was given.

It's wonky and imperfect but I like it!
Tomorrows theme is Chic and I have no idea what to do!

You don't have to have a blog to enter and you don't even have to join in for everyday, Fee from Makeup Savvy has explained what to do if you don't have a blog HERE and has also revealed the prizes you could win!
