Back To School Nails

This week is a big week in our house.
Today is my little lady's first day in Year 1 and her first day at her new school. Then Wednesday is my baby boy's first day at school!
So obviously I had to do some 'Back to school' theme nails!

It's nothing we haven't all seen before on Pinterest, YouTube and many other blogs but they were just too cute not to recreate!

*Edited to add links to similar nail art posts/ tutorials.
Pencils - Cute Polish and The Daily Nail

Polishes used are:
Barry M Yellow for the Pencils, then I mixed a little bit of Block Orange in with the Yellow to make the slightly darker stripes.
Barry M Silver Foil for the metal part of the eraser and Boots 17 Sweet Kisses mixed with a bit of Barry M Pink Flamingo for the eraser.
Barry M Peach Melba mixed with a bit of Mushroom for the wood of the pencil and Barry M Grey for the lead.
Barry M Bright Red, Mushroom and Spring Green for the Apple.
Barry M Matt White, Blueberry Ice Cream for the paper and I used the same pink mix for the margin as I used for the eraser.
Then the thumb I used Barry M Matt White, Bright Red, Yellow, Spring Green, Block Orange and Blueberry Ice Cream.

I was so nervous for my daughter this morning! But she walked straight in there, announced she was the new girl and told the teacher she drew her leg?!
So proud of her!

  11. This is fabulous! But you really should link to the designs you copy... There are tutorials out there for the apple (rebecca likes nails) and the pencils (cute polish/the daily nail)... OR link to whichever person you found the design from.. even if it's been recreated a lot.

    1. Thank you for the comment and for following. While I do think that this would have possibly been better to have mentioned by email which is in my contact tab, I do appreciate what it is you are trying to do and I would like to just like to make it clear that I did not copy any particular design. There was no tutorial that I had followed, and no image I had copied from, so there was no one particular influence to link back to.

When I did this design I sat at my table and did it quickly in the few hours between dropping my daughter off at her first day at a new school and dropping my son off for his very first day at school later that afternoon. I had no computer with me, no phone, no image to work from or tutorial. I had seen similar things around and I was basing it on some of the many recreations I had seen just from what I could remember in my own mind, obviously I should have taken the time later on to hunt down the original links but I genuinely forgot, kids starting school takes up far more time than I think you can ever really expect or prepare for! Please don't think I'm trying to make excuses, just providing an explanation.

If you do ever look through any of my other posts you will find that I am inspired by and do base some of my designs on many other talented ladies work and where ever I am even slightly inspired by one particular person, image or tutorial I always mention this and provide links. It is not my intention to pass of other peoples ideas as my own and I apologise profusely if this post made it seem that way to you. I will add the links to the people you have mentioned today as like I said I do appreciate what it is you are trying to do. We all make mistakes, especially within the first few months or so of blogging in which this post was made, and I have no problem with mine being brought to my attention, but in future I would ask that if you do see something on my blog that you are unhappy about, or if you would like to continue this conversation that you email me directly at glittertips22@gmail.com.
