Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge - Day 3 - Chic

Day 3 of the Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge is Chic nails.
My first thought was to do a Shabby Chic design but I changed my mind as I wanted to try something I have never done before.
So I decided on Chic Grey Chevrons!

I used the tape method for this design and let me tell you if I never see a roll of tape again it will be too soon! I got in a right mess.
Most frustrating manicure ever. It honestly took FOUR attempts just to get my Ring and Pinky fingers right and they are still wonky.
But I don't care they can stay that way.

For this I used two coats of Nails Inc Charlotte Street for the base which I got in a pack from TK Maxx a while ago. Then I used GOSH Silver and Avon Matte in Grey Cement for the chevrons.

I want to try more tape manicures because despite the wonkiness I really like how this turned out, but there has got to be something easier to use than sellotape!

  2. I love this, I went shabby chic because I didn't have a clue what else to do! Medical tape is easier than sellotape, so a lovely nail friend told me. I haven't tried it yet though x

  4. These are amazing, I love it! My 'chic' nails weren't anywhere near as adventurous! I always mess up tape manicures, mainly because the tape pulls off some of the base colour :)

    1. Thank you, I used a coat of Seche Vite between each layer to speed up the drying time and protect the colour underneath from the tape :)

    1. Thank you, I did get a bit confused and flustered at one point, had to cut myself out the tape using scissors! Tricky stuff that sellotape! :)

  6. The manicure I did this week was the first time I've tried the tape method. I used a layer of seche vite after the first color - it hardens quickly so I didn't have to wait as long for the bottom layer to dry. Even though you don't love how it turned out, I do so I'm excited to try it out :D
