Milani - Jewel FX Gold

Here I have the Milani Jewel FX Gold to show you.
This is pretty much exactly the same as the Silver I showed you the other day, it's just as much hard work but very worth it for the results you get.
I shan't bore you by repeating myself.
Let's get straight to the pictures!

Like the Silver I had to spend a lot of time poking and prodding the glitter into place with an orange stick but I just love the end result!

Barry M - Silvery Lilac

Urgh.
I have had the worst week! I don't like to wish my life away but I honestly cannot wait for it to be over and done with!
I have a bit of a backlog with blog posts where I haven't been able to blog and I wasn't prepared for this week at all so I am going to try get back up to date within the next couple of days! (Lesson learnt, always have a few back up posts ready to go!)

Today I wanted to show you the gorgeous Silvery Lilac from Barry M.
It's one of their sneaky newly released polishes which is now available on the website here.

I have seen this polish described in so many different ways and I can completely understand why!
Every time I look at it I think I see another colour then it's gone! So I'm just going to describe what I definitely see if that makes any sense at all.

Silvery Lilac is a mid silver grey base with fine silver glitter. In different light the colour shifts from silver to lilac, to green as you can hopefully see in the pictures.
Every now and then I kept thinking I was seeing flashes of a bronzey gold and teal, but that could have just been magic.
Or my imagination.
Who knows!

The application, as always I find with Barry M, was great.
My photos show two coats with no topcoat, some might want a third coat but I was happy at two.
I could honestly stare at this nail polish all day it is that pretty.
Barry M done good again.

Milani - Jewel FX Silver

I have been drooling over these polishes for so long!
So when I saw them here I caved and bought them.

Today I have the silver to show you.
There's not a lot to say about this polish really, it is what it is, and that's chunky silver hex glitter in a clear base!
I applied three coats for an almost opaque finish but had to work hard at it! After each coat I sat with and orange stick and moved the glitter around to fill in gaps, separate and flatten.
It's so worth it though!

Really really worth it!
Disco ball nails!
Next time I'll probably apply two coats over a metallic silver to make it a bit easier for myself.

Barry M - Teal

Barry M have recently released five new shades Teal, Copper, Silvery Lilac, Denim and Black Multi Glitter.
So far I have only managed to track down two of the shades Teal and Silvery Lilac but I will be stalking my local Superdrug and Boots regularly until I find the rest!

Today though I wanted to show you Teal.
Personally I'd describe Teal as being more aquamarine but whatever you want to call it it's really rather striking.

It's a gorgeous shimmer which is slightly metallic. I had no problems with application, it does show brush stokes a little but nothing major. My pictures show two coats although I might be tempted to add a third in future.
It's going to look so pretty with a tan come the summer!

31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 9 - Rainbow Nails

I have been thinking of what to do for Day 9 for a while now.
Don't get me wrong, I love my brights, but I personally think if you are going to use a lot of brights at one time, it needs to be something spectacular, or something simple otherwise it runs the risk of looking tacky.
But that's just my preference.

So, I was looking for inspiration on good ol' Google and came across this.
Simple and cute.
So I gave it a go.

I took the opportunity to take a photo in the 15 seconds of sunshine I had while taking pics!

For this I used
- Boots 17 Lasting Fix in Mini Skirt for the clouds.
- Barry M Bright Red 262, Lemon Ice Cream 307, Spring Green 290 and Pure Turquoise 295 for the rainbow.
Then topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

They definitely brightened up my day!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Disco Heaven

Last but not least, from the Models Own HedKandi Collection, I bring you Disco Heaven,
'a glittery, gold disco bomb'.
This was the polish I was least excited about, but I don't like to leave a collection incomplete so I picked it up anyway.

And I'm so glad I did!
Disco Heaven consists of fine gold square glitter with slightly larger hexagonal glitter which is iridescent. It flashes blue, green and even lavender, making for a super sparkly glitter polish!
Like Ibiza Mix, this applies evenly making one coat a nice sparkly topcoat to add something special, or it can be built up to a fuller coverage.

Look at the pretty colours!

What my photos don't show, thanks to the dull rainy days, is how sparkly this polish is!
A glittery, gold disco bomb indeed!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Ibiza Mix

Ibiza Mix from the Models Own HedKandi Collection was the one I was most excited about!
Described as a 'dense multi-coloured day-night sparkle' it sounded like my perfect polish.
And it is.

This is a glitter lovers dream. Two different sizes of pale pink, blue, green, gold and copper glitter in a clear base. Perfection.
Application was good, one coat provided a nice even covering of glitter perfect for adding a bit of a sparkly topcoat to another colour, or it can be built up to a more solid glitter look as you can see in the pictures below.

A nice glittery close up just for good measure!

I will never get bored of this polish!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Balearic Cool

Next up from the Models Own HedKandi Collection I bring you Balearic Cool!
'A crystal aquamarine blue inspired by the waters of Formentera.'

This one made my heart sad.
It is indeed a beautiful, bright aquamarine blue, but it's so sheer!
I applied three coats and it still wasn't opaque.
I refused to go a forth.
I'm going to try again with some 'underwear' because the application was good, colour beautiful and finish glossy, I want to find a way to love this!

The colour really is gorgeous though!

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Hedonist

Earlier I showed you Beach Party from the Models Own HedKandi Collection.
Now, for your viewing pleasure, I give you Hedonist,
'A no inhibition hot neon coral'.

This little beaut is a red toned coral, which is retina burning bright!
It applies a bit thick and gloopy so I had to apply a second coat to hide mistakes, but to be honest I nearly always apply two coats anyway.
Like Beach Party it dries to a satin finish so you may want to apply a topcoat.

But look...

Stunning no?

Models Own HedKandi Collection - Beach Party

As soon as I saw the Models Own HedKandi polishes in Boots I had to have them.
Glitter? Neon brights?? Get in my basket, you're coming home with me.

First up I'd like to show you Beach Party.
'A sunny, bright, intoxicating polish inspired by the world famous sunsets on the White Isle'

It is indeed a very bright and sunny orange with yellow undertones.
I found application a bit tricky. It was patchy and I experienced dragging around the cuticle on the second coat meaning I had to apply a third coat. How I loathe to apply a third coat!
It dries to a satin finish so if you are offended by anything less than a glossy finish a top coat would be a must for you.

I was however, completely in awe of the colour on.

Due to the wonderfully dull and rainy weather yesterday my camera was simply unable to capture just how bright this polish is, so you'll have to take my word for it until I can get some sunshine pics!
Think highlighter pen bright.
I love it!

China Glaze - Capitol Colors - Electrify

Last but by no means least I have China Glaze Electrify to show you today.

Electrify represents District 5 Power.

Electrify is a clear base with gold and red glitter, gold being the more prominent.
It has good coverage, this was 3 coats with no topcoat, and although the nail is still visible in parts I didn't feel the need for another coat.
I do love me a good glitter polish!

The other four colours in the Capitol Colors collection are Fois Gras, Dress Me Up, Mahogany Magic and Hook & Line.
I have to say I'm tempted by Fois Gras and Dress Me Up, I may still buy them. My only issue is if I buy those two I feel like I might as well complete the collection and I'm really not liking the look of Mahogany Magic or Hook & Line...
But what if I need them?

My Barry M Collection

Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite high street nail polish brand is Barry M.
I love them.
It has been my mission for a while to collect every colour Barry M does that I can get my glittered tips on! I actually have a Google Document that has a list of all the Barry M shades I know of that I haven't got yet, which I have been striking through as I've bought them. I have been scouring Ebay for the ones I can't get in my local Boots/Superdrug and one day I will find the discontinued Once Upon A Time. And it will be mine. And my life will be complete. But not my nail polish collection.

I thought It might be interesting to do a post on the Barry M polishes I have collected so far.
It's probably not that interesting, but I'm going to show you anyway so humor me.
